Sunday 9/10/16
Riding Royal Enfields around Perth.
By Will
The day started off cold, windy & with a little drizzle. We left home on our bikes, me on the Yamaha & Jen on her Honda at 9am & arrived at Craig’s place near Fremantle just before 10am . Shortly after Gary turned up, he will be on the same tour as us during the 10 day Rajasthan section of our Indian trip.

Craig is one of the Nevermind Adventure Tour Guides & has lead 5 trips through India so far. Today he was taking the 3 of us on a Royal Enfield bike familiarisation tour around Perth.

We were each allocated a Royal Enfield 500cc Bullet (RE), Gary & I were on burgundy coloured ones, Jenny had the black one. Craig’s tour around Perth was excellent, we went around the Swan & Canning Rivers up the scarp & had lunch at the Mundaring Weir Hotel. From there we tackled the Zigzag. Then back to the coast & followed the coastal route back to Freo.
The only problems Jenny & I encountered was the battery died on Jen’s RE bike, so we had to push/bump start it a couple of times. The bike I was on wouldn’t down shift very well & continually found neutral during the downshift no matter what technique I applied. Gary’s rear brake was a bit noisey as well. Craig’s RE was his own personal bike and appeared to go really well.
The ride was complementary from Nevermind Adventures & on behalf of Jenny & myself I would like to say a big thank you to Craig & Nevermind for a top day.
I must confess I did enjoy getting back on my Yamaha Super Tenere & riding home at 119km/h along the freeway with gears & brakes that worked superbly !
Can’t wait to see the blogs from India. Safe travels to both of you.
