In Loving Memory of “Dad”, Bill Colquhoun, 1946-2023.

(05/12/23 Blog attempt number 2).

Early in September 2023 my Dad “Bill” passed away after a 3 month duration in hospital. His final week and a half was spent at McNamara Lodge an aged care facility in Mandurah. Bill was 77, the official cause of death was liver failure. It has been a sad time for all of the family.

I did write an extended blog post but after mulling it over for awhile I have decided not to post it. There ended up being approximately 100 people at Dad’s funeral which was held at Pinjarra Cemetery two weeks after his passing. It was a much larger turn out than I expected. Dad had a positive effect on many people during his life.

I would like to thank the multitude of family and friends who helped Bill over the years. Lastly I would like to especially thank Jenny who has provided enormous support to me and Dad during that difficult time. You were truly the daughter Bill never had.

Rest In Peace Dad, thank you for all the help, good memories (& occasional not so good) you gave me. I’ll miss you, love Will.

Dad back in 2022.

A young Bill from circa 1964.

Dad loved sport but his favourite for many years was hockey. He played State Hockey for Western Australia and South Australia, A grade for Modernians and coached at the A grade level.

Dad always loved a good road trip.

Mid 1980’s

Dad loved his three boys, we all have our own various stories to tell of many weird and wonderful exploits with the old man.

Dad was happy to be a Granddad to Harper, Hayden, Olivia, Jackson and Shaye. He also was fortunate enough to become a Great Granddad and meet Annelise and Charlie .

Dad was a very good Pool player in his day and was always a challenge to beat.

Rest In Peace Dad, you will live on in our memories. Thank you. ❤️

Whilst you’ve been an Elder for a while now, now you really are The Man.
Enjoy your memories and what you are doing now and what you are planning.

  2. Lovely post. I’ve ‘enjoyed’ Dad’s pool skills diluted by a generation, and lost 😉 Thanks for sharing. You are now The Man, good to know you have the shoulders – and charm – to deal with it with aplomb. Many warm hugs … M&K
